Biography
Blake Sabatini is grounded and logical, viewing the world through jade-tinted glasses. He is a solutions man with a tough-love approach. He grew up in Golden Shore, Australia, raised in a commune, along with his younger sibling, Ashley. They also lived and travelled on a bus for some time. Ashley reflects on those days fondly, however, Blake doesn't share the same sentiment as he was glad they finally got out of what he referred to as a cult. Ashley and Blake are like night and day and clash at times, but they care deeply for each other. Brad is a product of the Sunshire conditioning, with his sunny disposition still in tact, while Blake rebelled in the opposite direction, donning dark clothing and cynical views.
One day, their parents went missing and their house mysteriously burnt down. Blake urged that they get out of the state and start anew elsewhere. Ashley picks up a rockstar hitchhiker named Maxxy Malone who leads them to a town called 'Selene Valley' where they settle. Ashley allows Maxx to live with them, much to Blake's dismay. However, Blake allowed this to teach Ashley the harsh lesson he needed that the world isn't sunshines and rainbows like Sunshire painted it to be--not everyone has good in them and not everyone can be helped.
Blake is an introvert and prefers to spend his time alone or with the one-on-one company. He doesn’t care for small talk and engaging with most people. Veronika Wood constantly makes advances on him, but Blake doesn't reciprocate and can't stand her. He befriends Andreas Odegaard, bonding over their like-minded views, interests, and thoughts on the world.
Blake works as a landscaper at the Lake Park where he meets Andreas Odegaard, looking for his lost ring. Their paths would cross again months later in a grim and tragic way, triggering a traumatic childhood memory from Sunshire. Despite Blake's brutal honesty, he also keeps a lot of secrets from Ashley relating to the Sunshire family. Blake keeps himself busy with carpenter projects such as building the catio and the mailbox. This is also how he deals with his emotions, or rather doesn't deal with them, while Ashley turns to food, weed and cats to cope with his. They were raised in an enviornment that swept conflict and difficult emotions under the rug, so they never knew how to deal with them. They really aren't that different.
