Dear readers,
It's been a wild ride and I'm proud of what I have achieved so far with Hellbent despite its shortcomings. I'm still learning and mistakes are lessons and part of the writing process. I have learned a lot from writing this story and about myself, too.
After long and careful consideration, I have decided to reboot Hellbent and let go of what no longer serves this story or resonates with me as a person.
All I can say is go in with an open mind and don't expect the same story as before as there will be major changes with this reboot. Some characters and plots will be entirely cut from the story and some other plots will be done differently... and better lol.
The most notable major changes will be:
Format - Hellbent will no longer be in screenplay format. It will now be in novel-script format and the chapters will be longer and explore characters and scenes more thoroughly.
Ashley/Branch - Brad/Bradley is no longer. Their name is now Ashley/Branch. One of the major reasons for this reboot is because they are such a different character now from when I first started and Brad was no longer resonating. I wanted to get away from the old character from my teens and 20s and They've changed so much in appearance and characterization over the years, so they may as well be a different character now. So I felt the name change was necessary. I also wanted a gender-neutral name for them, too. My partner helped me pick the right name for them--Ashley. I will be exploring their journey in finding themselves and their gender identity in this story.
Ivy - Ivy along with the characters involved in her storyline will no longer be in Hellbent. This story is about Ashley's journey and they don't intertwine with their story and don't fit this story overall. Those storylines also don't resonate with me anymore. However, Ivy and those characters will be in my partner's story, Verdant Hawk. Ivy is still my character and I will be writing her in that story. Larry/Lord Kradula will still appear in Hellbent but with a different role unrelated to Ivy.
Andreas - The murder mystery plot is completely retconned as it didn't fit my story and my vibe. I was still finding myself as a writer and now I know the type of writer I am and that is a slice-of-life comedy/drama writer. Andreas will now be a part of the cast and explored more!
